Hello and thank you for taking a look at our vacancy. We are SSGL Medical, a friendly CQC registered independent ambulance service based out of Barnsley in South Yorkshire. We are recruiting owing to expanding patient transport requirements from the NHS. We care passionately about our small team of staff, as they are the ones delivering care to the patients we care for. Working for us means working as part of a family, and you will be well looked after in all aspects.
We are seeking passionate and committed individuals with previous care experience to join our friendly family to fulfil the role of Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA), working either as a single crewed Wheelchair Access Vehicle (WAV), or with a colleague on an Ambulance, to transfer patients on a non-emergency basis. We are interested in candidates joining us for the long-haul and who want the job because they thoroughly enjoy the role, and our values.
An immediate start is available for compliant and experienced applicants and would ideally fulfil this role within 7 days, owing to outstanding requirements. Let's start with a summary of the role:
Summary of Vacancy:
As you will be working on a WAV or patient transport ambulance (both vacancies are available) with a colleague, being a team-player is incredibly important, as is self-motivation, passion for patient care and a high degree of common sense.
You will collect a variety of suitable patients, generally from their home to hospital appointments, and indeed from hospital appointments back home. On a WAV you will drive for the duration of your shift, and on PTS you will switch between driving an ambulance (normal B category car licence) and attending to the patient in the rear of the vehicle. These patients will often have health issues requiring use of ambulance manual handling equipment. Your induction will fully cover the use of transfer equipment, safe movement of patients and the process of collection and drop-off of patients.
